We understand that small incidents can happen during your trip — especially when riding on gravel roads and exploring new terrain.
This page is here to give you a transparent overview of typical repair and replacement costs, so you always know what to expect. The examples below cover the most common types of damage we see during rentals.
Some less common or more complex cases may require individual assessment based on the actual cost of parts, work, and market replacement value. Where a repair is not reasonable or would compromise reliability, replacement may be required instead.
In most cases, we only charge the actual cost of repair — nothing more. We don’t charge for normal wear.
Wheels & Tyres
Applies in cases where the tyre is damaged beyond what tubeless sealant can repair.
This typically includes cuts or punctures that do not seal automatically (usually larger than small surface punctures), or situations where a repair plug has been used during the ride.
While plugs are a great temporary solution to continue your trip, tyres repaired this way are replaced afterwards for safety and reliability.

A broken spoke requires more than a simple replacement.
The repair typically involves removing the tyre and tubeless setup, replacing the spoke, re-tensioning and truing the wheel, and reinstalling tubeless tape and sealant.
This ensures the wheel remains safe and reliable for riding.

Cosmetic Damage
Most bikes are protected with transparent film in high-wear areas. If the film is damaged or worn through, replacement may be required. This helps keep the bike in good condition for future riders.
Applies when scratches go through the protective layer and affect the paint. Repair may involve touch-up work and reapplying protective film. Pricing depends on the size and visibility of the damaged area.

Applies if rubber hoods (covers) are torn, heavily damaged. These parts are relatively expensive and not always easy to source.
Drivetrain & Shifting Components
The derailleur hanger is designed to bend under impact to protect the drivetrain.
Replacement are required to ensure proper gear shifting and prevent further damage.

While Portugal is generally a safe country, we ask all riders to take reasonable care of the bike and equipment during the trip.
In case of theft, loss, or non-return, the renter is responsible for the full replacement value of the bike and equipment, as specified in the rental agreement.
Our bikes are part of a small and carefully maintained fleet. In case of loss, replacement can take weeks. Please note that loss of a bike affects not only replacement cost, but also availability for future bookings, especially in the case of limited or custom-built models.
Riders are expected to use the provided lock and to store the bike inside the accommodation or in a secure area whenever possible.
